Dear Carolina Alumni Host,

Together with the General Alumni Association, the Office of New Student &
Carolina Parent Programs appreciates your Alumni Club hosting a summer
send-off for first-year and transfer students in your geographical location
to help the University give a warm welcome, Carolina style, to our newest
Tar Heels and their parents. We have provided a reference manual for your
review with several helpful tips. In the confidentiality letter that was
sent to you either by the Office of New Student & Carolina Parent Programs
or the General Alumni Association, you were provided a login to use along
with a password in order to access the manual.

The manual has a table of contents and is divided into several sections for
your convenience in locating materials. The manual also provides up-to-date
information such as the academic calendar, football schedule, etc., plus
outlines programs taking place at UNC-Chapel Hill during move-in weekend,
the Week of Welcome, the Summer Reading Program, Convocation, Fallfest and
Family Weekend. For Parents we have included information on the Carolina
Parents Association, Parents Council, Parents Clubs, etc.

Due to the FERPA regulations, students and parents will need to sign in and
at that time can agree or not agree to release their contact information to
others in attendance. Please make copies of the Sign In sheets provided in
the manual and place along side your nametags on a table so attendees can
easily register upon arriving at your event. These sheets will need to be
returned to the Office of New Student & Carolina Programs or the Membership
Coordinator at the General Alumni Association office on campus in order for
us to comply with Legal Counsel requirements on campus. The Office of New
Student & Carolina Parent Programs will be responsible for the disbursement
of information to your attendees after the event.
